A Better Educational System

In the perfect educational system kids will learn how to read and wright and learn basic math. After a certain point they shouldn't be forced to go. I think making school a choice to teens instead of forcing them to go might encourage them to use opportunities that are available. Honestly, I think kids choose to mess around and get into trouble and because they are forced to. I think kids have that sort of mentality. Lots of kids see school as a place they don't want to be. After a certain point by making it optional might encourage them to go and do something with their life.

I don't think schools need to make more money off of each pupil. Schools make allot of money and need to spend it on the right things. If the schools were full of people that aren't doing anything and ditching class everyday, maybe the schools would stop losing as much money. With kids that wanna be at school and really try standardized testing would be more accurate. Some kids just bubble in staircases on their answer sheets. Lots of kids really don't care about standardized tests and care about their grades more. Especially if they will get grounded for it.

Monday July 12th

I am sort of split two ways on the passing of the new bill. Senate Bill 1070 has uprised some racial tension between the U.S. government and hispanic Americans. The law requires officers,"when praticable", to detain anyone reasonably suspected of being an illegal. It also makes it a misdameanor to be caught without your papers. I can see why there is an uproar about racial profiling. I don't think racial profiling is right, but it is something thats unavoidable. Profiling in general is a big problem in our society. You dont have to be a person of color to be profiled. I know for a fact that a person of any race can be profiled. I have been pulled over and or stopped by cops just for looking different. People are going to be profiled no matter what, but in this case it is hispanics under the scope because of the situation with bill.

Besides the immigration issue, the bill is believed to help stop trafficking of drugs, weapons, and people in and out of America. The people of America as well as Mexico need to be protected.
This law can help protect citizens on both sides of the border.Weapons are smuggled into Mexico daily and sold to violent drug cartels. the Mexican government supports the bill hoping it will stop these cartels. On our own turf people are taken from America and sold as slaves for labor or sex. Pheonix, Arizona is the kidnapping capitol of America. I'm not saying Mexicans are responsible for all the missing people, but the Arizona-Mexican border may be a key access point to flee America for slave traders. I would definently have to think this one over before I would cast a vote.

Afghan discussion

I had a couple discussions on the war in Afghanistan over the weekend. I was suprised on how much some people knew about the war and then again I was was suprised about how really dumb founded my friends actually are on the subject. I accidently started a conversation with one of my neighbors I never really talked to before.after he started talking and he diddnt stop antime soon after. i think i fell asleep a couple times during the conversation. It was like sitting through Mr. Ecklehoefers class. He was talking about how afghanistan's relys on the export on poppy to survive and the war isnt going to end any time soon because everything in Afghanistan is so corrupt. He was also talking about how we dont here that much about the war and lots of important things thay may affect our lives are rejected from the news. I was suprised he was so interested in politics and the war.

I also had a conversation with some of my friends when we were partying too. A few of my friends think we should pull out of the war because they said it's a war for nothing. They think we are throwing our money down the drain. One of my other friends thought the war is over oil.I told him that was the war in Iraq. Im suprised some people dont really know anything abouy it. I was telling them about how we are teaching the people there to defend theirselves and they thought it was a good idea. Another friend Said there's no hope and we should Nuke them all. But that guys opinion diddnt count because he was wasted. Then they started up on conspiracy theories and the coversation went another way.

Tuesday, July 6th

I believe that the high unemployment rate is the most important economic issue affecting the United States. My friends and family have been affected by this in the past couple of years. My friends and family have had trouble getting jobs and or keeping that job. Even those who have been able to keep their jobs have definently felt the recession. I have some family that were able to keep their jobs but their hours were cut and now they dont work three days a week instead of just one.I have another family member who was fired because they couldnt afford to drive to work and was fired because of it.
Even the benefits for the unemployed have been cut. More and more people who have been surviving off of their unemployment checks have been cut off completely from their benefits.
Earlier this year the senate cut off extended unemployment benefits and cobra health care. Their are over 11 million workers collecting unemployment in the United States. 200 thousand unemployed Californians have already lost their unemployment benefits and is expected to rise to 1.5 million without an extention from congress. America hjas seen recessions like this before, but not to the extent. If something doesnt happen soon, America is going down the drain.
